After 5 years of development CompTape started in January 2012 as a private company in Portugal. End of 2013 our first R&D and production line was moved to Enschede, Netherlands.

Begin of 2016 this line was shipped to the new site in Delft, Netherlands.

Foreign investment facilitated the purchase of 4 new production lines to considerably increase our production capacity.

Moreover, a daughter company in the Russian Federation was created to serve local market needs.

In addition a robotic tape-winding set-up was created to manufacture small pressure vessels.

Our technology is based on standard plastics processing machinery. The core of the process is a specifically designed impregnation unit in which glass or carbon fibres are introduced, spread and impregnated by a polymer melt.

We offer a license programme to industrial organisations that prefer to manufacture tapes following our process.

In 2012 the Polytechnic Insitute of Leiria (Portugal) and others published a paper with test results, comparing Comp Tape's glass/PP tape with Twintex. You can download the paper here

CompTape aims at manufacturing efficient thermoplastic composite tapes: the right quality at the right price.

CompTape does not aim at aerospace quality in terms of fibre volume fraction, smoothness, void content, narrow tolerances on width and thickness et cetera, simply  because most applications do not require aerospace quality.

CompTape takes the end application as a starting point and the definition of the thermoplastic composite tape as a result.

Currently we have available the following raw materials in stock to produce tapes with:
 
Resins: PP, HDPE, LDPE, PC-ABS; PA6/PA66; PA12
 
Fibres: glass, carbon and aramid fibre
